Premises Update
Our Store is fit for purpose
The former mortuary had exposed internal rafters and an uninsulated roof so we needed a quick, cheap fix to stop the ingress of dirt, dust and debris that dropped between the roof tiles coating the donations and flooring beneath. Our initial budget allowed us to line the rafters, sealing the roof off to create clean storage space below. The ancient, unsafe electric mains and gas installations were removed and sturdy racking was purchased and assembled.
Main refurbishments completed in the Chapel
In the summer holidays, teams from Holy Trinity Claygate and Esher Green Baptist’s youth group, Renu, undertook short projects to shift furniture donations between buildings, clear out old carpet and heaters and clean up the Chapel so our builders, Peter and Matt, could start the major renovations inside. Widespread mould on the walls was treated, the flooring fixed and carpeted, the old storage heaters removed, fresh coats of paint applied and the front doors rehung, painted and secured.
The remaining job is to employ an electrician to install suitable lighting circuits and fiittings, and to source some basic fixtures, furniture and soft furnishings so the team can meet and work there comfortably.
